Logging a shift is one of the tasks you will do most as a staff member within our server. To record your moderation activity, you need to start and end your shift. The process for starting and ending your shift is simple and will be explained below.
Follow the steps below and learn how to start/end a shift.
Go to the Moderator Panel.
Locate the shift buttons located in the top left-hand corner of your screen.
To start your shift, click the green 'Start Shift' button. Alternatively, you can run the /shift manage
command within the Discord server to start your shift that way.
You are now required to select a shift type when starting your shift. The available options are 'Priority' and 'Moderating & Roleplaying.' 'Priority' is strictly for moderating, and at least two staff members must be on this shift type at all times. Additionally, you are required to dedicate a certain number of hours to this shift type each month - more information found in Activity Information. 'Moderating & Roleplaying' allows you to moderate while simultaneously engaging in roleplaying. Please do not use the 'Default (No Shift Type)' option.
Your shift will now have been started. You now will be given the option 'End Shift' or 'Start Break'.
If you need to temporarily pause your shift, you can use the 'Start Break' button to begin a break. This will pause your shift until you click 'End Break'. Any time you accumulate on break will not count towards meeting the activity requirements at the end of the month.
To end your shift, click the 'End Shift' button. Once you have ended your shift, you will have the ability to 'View My Shifts'. This will display all of your shifts within the current activity wave as well as the overall amount of time that you have been online.
You may encounter issues when logging a shift. This could be due to a bot error or an error on your part. If you encounter an error, follow the steps below.
If you encounter issues when logging a shift and believe it to be a bot issue, make a management member aware of the issue. You can also check Melonly's Status Page for any outages.
If you accidentally leave your shift running and have accumulated additional shift time, contact a management member as soon as possible so they can correct it. If you are found to be leaving your shift running on purpose, you may be issued a staff infraction.
