Rules Briefings are a way to gather everyone within the same voice channel so that they can be reminded of the rules. We aim to have as few Rules Briefings as possible to limit disruption to players' roleplays; however, sometimes they're necessary. This page contains the information and guidelines necessary to perform a Rules Briefing as well as the actual guide for conducting a Rules Briefing.
The following section contains information such as the location of the Rule Briefing and where staff members and members should be situated.
Rule Briefings take place on Freedom Avenue with the nearest postal code of 202. This location is right next to the civilian spawn, which helps teleport people if they join during the Rule Briefing.
There are certain locations in which members and staff members must stand when conducting the Rule Briefing. This is to help the Rule Briefing run smoothly and be organized.
Blue Line
: This is where members are situated.
Red Line
: This is where staff members are situated.
There are certain guidelines that you must follow when conducting a Rule Briefing. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in an infraction.
A Rule Briefing should only be held when the server is experiencing large amounts of fail roleplay or other rule violations. It should not occur when the player count of the server is below 30, if there are a lot of ranked units online, or if there are more than 10 staff members online.
You do not require permission from the highest-ranking member online for a Rule briefing to occur. Instead, you need to speak to all staff members in-game, and you will come to an agreement as to whether a Rule Briefing is necessary or not.
At no point should you allow members to assist with the Rule briefing in any way. All members must stand on the yellow line at all times, even if they are AFK.
All staff members participating in the Rule Briefing must come to an agreement on who will be the 'host' of the Rule Briefing. The rules are read automatically by the 'Rule Briefing' (Maki) bot but there still needs to be someone who handles all of the teleporting and the sending of the messages beforehand. The other staff members participating in the Rule Briefing will be responsible for avatar and voice channel checks.
There should be one staff member in the civilian spawn teleporting anyone who joins late, one staff member assisting with getting people into the Rules Briefing Voice Channel, and one staff member checking the avatars of everyone while the rules are being read.
The Rules Briefing Area must be clearly marked. This should be done with two staff cars, one on each end of the Rules Briefing Area. The use of flares, cones, barriers, etc., is not allowed and should not be placed in the area.
All vehicles should be parked in a designated parking space at the civilian spawn. There should be no vehicles other than staff vehicles in the Rule Briefing Area.
The Rule Briefing needs to be logged using the Actions tab within Melonly. The Rule Briefing Host should be the one to log the Rule Briefing. More information on how to log a Rule Briefing using Actions can be found in Action Logging.
You are not required to log when you kick a user during a Rule Briefing, as these actions do not count towards their moderation record. However, you are required to log when you ban someone, as banning a user from our server must be logged.
The following section contains information on how to conduct a Rule Briefing. Within this section, you may see the word 'host' mentioned. The host of the Rule Briefing is the person who is responsible for sending all of the in-game messages during the Rule Briefing. The host of the Rule Briefing should be decided upon before the Rule Briefing occurs.
You will first need to ensure that the Rule Briefing Criteria are met. These can be found in the 'Rule Briefing Guidelines' located above. If the conditions for a Rule Briefing are met, you will use staff chat (not in-game messages) to gather everyone within the staff lounge to discuss whether everyone agrees on conducting the Rule Briefing.
If all staff members agree to conducting a Rule Briefing, one staff member the host will send out the following message 5 minutes before the scheduled Rule Briefing is set to occur.
:m A Rule Briefing will commence shortly. Please conclude your ongoing roleplays, as you will be respawned shortly. The Rule Briefing will take place in our communication server. The code to join is wcrp.
You will also set a peacetime for 30 minutes to ensure that no one can kill or engage in PVP before, during and after the Rule Briefing.
:peacetime 1800
You will now use these 5 minutes to ensure that all staff members are aware of what their role is within this Rule Briefing. There should be one staff member assigned to the civilian spawn area to teleport the people who join during the Rule Briefing. There should also be another staff member who will be focusing on getting everyone within the Rule Briefing voice channel.
After the 5 minutes have passed, the host will send out the following respawn message.
:m You will now be respawned. Please refrain from moving your character during this process to ensure that everyone is respawned.
A few seconds after the respawn message is sent, the host will run the :respawn others
command. This action should be performed only once.
Once the respawn others command has been run, the host will wait a few seconds before running the :bring others
command. This command should be ran 2-3 times to ensure that everyone has been brought to the Rule Briefing area.
The host will now send a message instructing everyone to position themselves onto the yellow line. If you observe any disruptive behavior, particularly shooting during this stage, you should immediately kick the user from the server. With the peacetime timer activated, they cannot inflict damage on other players, so remain calm if this situation occurs.
:m The Rule Briefing is about to begin. Please position yourself on the yellow line. Any disruptive behaviour during the Rule Briefing, such as talking, emoting, shooting, etc., will result in your removal from the server.
After everyone has positioned themselves on the yellow line, the host will run the /erlc membercheck
command through Melonly, which will provide a list of those not in the Rule Briefing voice channel or Discord server.
If a member isn't in the voice channel or Discord server, the staff members who are also taking part in the Rule Briefing will deal with them, while the host moves on to starting the Rule Briefing.
The host will now run the following command within the staff commands channel.
/play https://on.soundcloud.com/CYjDz372jGXhcGoV6
In the event that the bot is down and you are unable to do the Rule Briefing automatically, you will just read from the in-game rules channel.
The rules will now be read out by the bot. This audio has a duration of around 3-4 minutes. It will cover all of the rules that are listed within our in-game rules channel and it will also remind people at the start to avoid any disruptive behaviour.
While the bot reads the rules, staff will use this time to check avatars and complete any ongoing voice channel checks. This ensures that by the time the bot finishes, all avatars should have been checked and changed if necessary. You may instruct members to stay behind at the end if you need to address any avatar, voice channel, or other issues.
The host will now release the following message.
:m If you have any questions for a staff member, please stay behind. This Rule Briefing has now concluded, and you're free to respawn and head back to your roleplays. We appreciate your attention! A short peacetime will be put into effect.
This concludes the Rule Briefing. You will now stay behind to answer any questions that a member may have. You will also set a peacetime timer for ten minutes using the command :peacetime 600
. You will respawn any AFK members using the :load [RobloxUsername]
command. Once all questions have been answered, you will move your staff vehicles.
